How Championship Belts Are Made: From Zinc Plate to Gold Plating

Ever wonder what goes into building a championship belt? We walk you through every step — from die casting to electroplating to leather finishing — straight from our Sialkot workshop.

The Birth of a Championship Belt

Every belt we make begins as a lump of zinc alloy. Zinc is the backbone of the industry — it's dense enough to feel real but light enough to wear without breaking your back.

Step 1 — Die Casting

Our craftsmen pour molten zinc into precision-machined steel dies. The die determines every raised detail on the plate: the eagle feathers on a WWE title, the globe on an NWA plate, the eagle on a WCW belt. One wrong pour and the whole plate is scrapped.

Step 2 — Hand Finishing

Once cooled, each plate is removed from the die and handed to a finisher. Any sharp edges, seam lines, or surface imperfections are ground away using rotary tools and hand files. This step takes patience — a rushed finish shows under the plating.

Step 3 — Electroplating

This is where the magic happens. Plates are suspended in a tank of electrolytic solution alongside a gold anode. An electrical current causes gold particles to bond directly to the zinc surface at a molecular level. This is real gold plating — not spray paint, not foil, not powder coat.

Our standard process deposits 0.5–1 micron of gold. Premium belts get a heavier deposit for that deeper, richer shine.

Step 4 — Crystal Setting

Side plates and decorative elements are set with individually placed crystals by hand. Each crystal is secured with jeweller's adhesive and checked under magnification.

Step 5 — Leather Work

The strap is cut from full-grain cowhide, dyed to match the belt's colour scheme, and hand-stitched with heavy-duty thread. Metal snaps and buckles are fitted last.

Step 6 — Quality Inspection

Before every belt leaves our workshop, it goes through a 12-point inspection covering plating coverage, crystal placement, strap alignment, buckle function, and overall finish.

That's the belt you receive.
